Statistics of Players currently coached by me individually

    Since setting up on my own in the last four years I have coached 9-10 players that compete but only a few of them practise and compete enough for their rating to really improve, although that being the case 75% of the players I have coached show a rating increase or quantifiable improvement (ranking) since taking them on in the last 1 – 4 years. Even though I feel that all the players I coach have improved for some it doesn’t show in their rating simply because they don’t practise or play enough tournaments.

   (For a player to reach their full potential they have to be playing at least 12 hours a week and doing a comprehensive physical training programme from roughly the age of 12).  

    The ages and ratings of the players I coach and have coached range from mini red up to adult and 10.2 – 2.2 rating with some players being the best in their age group in the county and one player being accepted to qualify for u12 boys nationals in 2008 .  

    From my observation it appears to me that the majority of coaches gauge the quality of a coach by how well their players do at their respective junior county closed events each year.

Below are the results of my players at county closed events over the last three years. 

    I currently coach players who compete in Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire County closed events.

Year 1, 2007

: 3 players made semi finals of their respective county closed singles events.

Year 2, 2008

: 4 – 5 players made ¼ finals of their respective county closed singles events.

: 3 players made Semi finals of their respective county closed singles events.

: 2 players made the final of their respective county closed singles events.  

Year 3, 2009

: 2 players made singles finals of their respective county closed events.

: 4 players made singles semi finals of their respective county closed events.

: 2 players made 3 singles quarterfinals of their respective county closed events.
These are the players I coach and the rating increases since I have taken them on and starting up on my own in the last 3 years.

Year 4, 2010

: 2 - 3 players made singles semi finals of their respective county closed events.

: 1 player won the U14s boys singles county closed championships.    

These are some of the players I coach who follow my performance programme. 

: Shropshire =

: Charles Richards, 10.1 - 8.1 rating, national qualifying u12s, finalist of u12s county championships 2008, semi finalist of u14s county championships 2009 and won the U14 singles county championship 2010.

: Gloucestershire =

: Jason Richards from almost beginner to top 3 in age group in county mini green, finalist of Bristol open u10s, semi finalist of u10s county championships and from mini green to 9.1 rating. Currently not playing due to cricket commitments.

: Clair Dixey, Gloucestershire university student and No1 player whose rating whilst coaching her went up from 4.1 to 3.2. Before Clair finished university in June 2008 and returned home, she had reached the quarter final of the university national championships and taken a 1.2 rated player to 6.3 7.5.

: Dan Knowles 9.2 - 7.1 rating, finalist of Bristol open mens singles event and now in the Bath university 2nd team.

: Staffordshire =

: Jack Whetton 9.1 – 6.2, quarter finalist of u16s and u18s county championships 2009, recently became no1 ranked under 16s in Staffordshire, finalist at edgebaston archery U16' singles grade 3 event and reached the semi finals of U18 county singles championship 2010.
