Philosophy

I am Peter Creffield a full time tennis coach. I have been coaching for approximately 12 years and I set up on my own at the end of 2006 start of 2007. I have spent many years pondering my own and listening to other people’s philosophy on tennis coaching. After great thought I have decided upon treating each player as an individual.

Coaching History

I started coaching Jan 1998 in my home town of Shrewsbury.

I coached a whole range of players from beginner to county level and from mini to adult.

In April 2000 I moved to London where I was assistant head coach at a 12 court club in Wimbledon.

I again worked with a whole range of players from mini to adult but this time coaching two players individually who were of national standard. One of the players I coached individually won the men’s surrey singles championship twice and ended up playing No1 singles for his American university.

In Sep 2003 I left Wimbledon and worked part time in Shrewsbury, coaching club and high county standard juniors. One of the juniors coached managed to beat the No 4 in his respective age group in the country.

In April 2004 I moved to Cheltenham as head of Performance at one of the biggest clubs in Gloucestershire. I set up a squad programme that encompassed a player’s full physical and tactical training. The standard of players that accessed this programme ranged from club to county and up to national junior standard.

In Nov 2006 I started up on my own coaching in Shropshire and Gloucestershire
under the banner of ‘Creff’s performance tennis.

I am currently coaching some of the best junior tennis players in Shropshire, Gloucestershire and Staffordshire.

Current Players

From my observation it appears to me that the majority of coaches gauge the quality of a coach by how well their players do at their respective junior county closed events each year.

Below are the results of my players at county closed events over the last three years.

I currently coach players who compete in Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire County closed events.

Year 1, 2007

: 3 players made semi finals of their respective county closed singles events.

Year 2, 2008

: 4 – 5 players made ¼ finals of their respective county closed singles events.

: 3 players made Semi finals of their respective county closed singles events.

: 2 players made the final of their respective county closed singles events.

Year 3, 2009

: 2 players made singles finals of their respective county closed events.

: 4 players made singles semi finals of their respective county closed events.

: 2 players made 3 singles quarterfinals of their respective county closed events
